1.  Six of the images (illustrations for Capítulos IV, V, IX, XIII, XIV, and XV) are plates 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 respectively of portfolio Leopoldo Méndez. Diez aguafuertes, published in a signed and numbered edition of 20.

2. An unknown number of additional impressions were pulled of each individual image.

Cataloging note:  This plate contains eight of the illustrations for Maples Arce's book. Although the etchings appear to be in their final state, Méndez apparently divided the plate into separate pieces after printing this proof, allowing each etching to have its own plate mark. 

The plate is reproduced here twice so that the images can all be seen in their correct orientation.
