Cataloging note: This poster is attributed to Méndez in (a) a list of posters and volantes dated March 18, 1946, prepared by Georg Stibi, business manager of La Estampa Mexicana, for Carl O. Schniewind, print curator at the Art Institute of Chicago, Fondo Documental Leopoldo Méndez, CNAP-FR-LM-04068-2/2; and (b) a list of posters dated September 17, 1953 in the TGP records, TGP 1999, box 2 folder 32. 

Although some sources date the poster to 1941, that date is almost certainly incorrect. It is highly unlikely a poster of this character would have been prepared before Nazi Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union--and thus the Soviet Union’s entrance into World War 2. Since the poster had to have been prepared earlier than June 22, the opening date of the convention it announces, it could not have been prepared in 1941, given that the German invasion began on June 22, 1941. Mexico entered World War 2, becoming an ally of the Soviet Union, in May 1942.

Aunque algunas fuentes indican que la fecha del cartel es 1941, es casi seguro que esa fecha es incorrecta.  Es muy poco probable que un cartel de estas características se hubiera preparado antes de la invasión de la Unión Soviética por parte de la Alemania nazi y, por lo tanto, antes de la entrada de la Unión Soviética en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Dado que el cartel tuvo que prepararse antes del 22 de junio, fecha de inicio de la convención que anuncia, no pudo haberse elaborado en 1941, ya que la invasión alemana comenzó el 22 de junio de 1941. México entró en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, convirtiéndose en aliado de la Unión Soviética, en mayo de 1942.
