Commentary: Méndez based this print on sketches made in war-ravaged Warsaw during a trip to Poland in 1948 to attend the World Congress of Intellectuals in Defense of Peace in Wrocław. The ruined skyscraper in the background is the Prudential House, which when built in 1933 was the sixth tallest building in Europe and the tallest in Poland. It was rebuilt and is now the Hotel Warszawa. (Peter Schneider)

Comentario: Méndez basó este grabado en bocetos realizados en la Varsovia devastada por la guerra durante un viaje a Polonia en 1948 para asistir al Congreso Mundial de Intelectuales en Defensa de la Paz en Wrocław.  El rascacielos en ruinas del fondo es la Prudential House, que cuando se construyó en 1933 era el sexto edificio más alto de Europa y el más alto de Polonia.
